Over five hour-long episodes, Funny As tells the story of what really happened behind the scenes of our favourite shows and reveals the blind faith, sheer grit and extraordinary moments that have shaped careers. These are the first-person accounts of how some of our best jokes were created and how our comedy greats went on to influence comedians who came after them.
This landmark series is an oral history created from interviews with over 130 people with unprecedented access to public and private moving image collections from around the country.
The companion book to the series, also titled FUNNY AS, is published by Auckland University Press. A web series of associated content, called FUNNY AS: Director’s Cuts, screened alongside the broadcast series.
